The Quiet of the Night

From the Desk of RD

My Journey of Grief

In the quiet of the night, I hear a whisper’s song,
A melody of memories where we both belong.
Yet the echo fades to silence, a lonely, hollow tone,
For I am here without you, wandering alone.

The stars above still sparkle, but their light feels dim,
Their brilliance now a distant dream, a fading, fragile whim.
The world continues turning, as if nothing’s changed,
But my heart feels the absence, so deeply rearranged.

Yet in this silent sorrow, I find a tender grace,
A strength within the loneliness, a resilience to embrace.
For though you’re not beside me, your love is ever near,
In every tear and heartbeat, in every whispered cheer.

So I’ll walk this path in solitude, but with you in my heart,
Embracing all the memories, though we are worlds apart.
For love transcends the distance, in time and space alone,
And in my soul, forever, you will be my home

The days stretch out, unending, like a path without an end,
Each moment filled with longing, my heart unable to mend.
In crowds I feel the distance, an emptiness so near,
For without you by my side, there’s nothing I hold dear.

I see your face in shadows, your voice in gentle breeze,
But when I reach to hold you, I’m left with only please.
In places we once wandered now echo with my sighs,
Each step a painful reminder, of love that never dies.

For love transcends the distance, in time and space alone,
And in my soul, forever, you will be my home.
